Music and Investing Passions Lead Local Businessman to Visible Music College

Memphis, TN, March 15, 2021 — Two lifelong passions are the impetus behind the new Healy Engineering & Production Scholar award at Visible Music College in downtown Memphis. Jay Healy spent fifteen years in the music business as a recording engineer and producer, collaborating with artists such as Billy Joel, John Mellencamp, Mariah Carey, and REM. In 2000, Healy left the music business behind and moved with Regina and children back to Memphis, where he began a new career, eventually launching his company, Century Wealth Management.

Sophomore student Cale Griffin has been chosen as the first Healy Scholar. Cale grew up in Lawrence, KS, and detoured from a path in Aerospace Engineering after learning about Visible’s Music Production bachelor’s degree. “I wrote and produced songs in high school, really enjoying recording and mixing, fitting all the elements together. Visible offers a Christian learning environment and multi-faceted, hands-on education that will prepare me for a successful career in music.”

Cale serves at Cordova Community Church where he runs the audio, video, and live stream. On Visible’s campus, he runs the soundboard for IndieVisible student-showcase performances and works with industry professionals who collaborate with the college. Future career plans include building a home studio for recording artists and working with a church that needs his special skill set.

Visible Music College, founded in 2000 by Ken Steorts (founding guitarist of Christian rock band Skillet), is located at 200 Madison Avenue in downtown Memphis. Visible is an accredited college with bachelor’s and master’s degrees and certificate programs, with a fully online option. The focus of Visible is on creating small, intentional artist communities throughout the world that emphasize growth in three key areas: spiritual, professional, and academic.
