Audition Instructions

Here is everything you are expected to prepare for your audition. Please contact the instructor or Admissions Office if you have any questions or concerns about this material. We are far more interested in our students having a desire and a capacity to learn, than simply possessing a specific set of knowledge.

1 Technique

During the audition you will be expected to demonstrate the following techniques to help determine your skill level:

• Familiarity of notes on the fretboard
• One octave major and minor scales
• Decipher kick drum pattern and lock in with it
• Count time and play with a Metronome
• Sight-reading
• Improvisation

2 Prepared Pieces

* Both are required (Feel free to overplay. Consider the bass to be the main instrument)
