The Modern Worship Leadership program exists to train worship leaders musically and spiritually for service in a church or para-church setting. Musically, the MWL program will develop the student’s musical and/or vocal skills and give a firm understanding of contemporary music theory and styles, along with their application in a musical worship setting. Students will receive hands-on training in band development, rehearsal techniques, musical arranging, use of media in worship, team and ministry building, and worship leadership. Spiritually, the MWL program and staff help each student to discover their unique gifting from God while developing a deeper ability to listen to the Holy Spirit and express the heart of God through music. Students will be challenged to walk with Christ in ever-increasing maturity; furthermore, students will be equipped with a deeper knowledge of God’s word and theology of worship with an ability to creatively engage God’s people. Graduates will be well-prepared to serve in a contemporary church setting in positions such as worship leader, worship arts director, or music minister, or in a para-church setting such as a college or traveling ministry.
